Flamboyant feathers, beads galore, a brass band and Southern Comfort sweet peach iced tea…just your standard Tuesday right?
It most certainly is not this mother’s usual Tuesday and it was very clear that an evening at the new and improved Bar Gumbo is anything but standard.
We were treated to a variety of delicious cocktails featuring Southern Comfort, each of which exuded good ol’ New Orleans charm. The bar staff were seriously on point, grafting hard to keep mixing fabulous drinks for the thirsty crowd – absolute kudos to them!
Oysters – these were snapped up so fast I could barely get a pic!
The food started to come out and they were sure as hell not stingy with their portions!! The jambalaya was spicy, and was full of chicken, prawns and red peppers rather than just a carb heavy pile of rice. The Mac and Cheese, well its one of my favourite things in life and I’m not easily impressed, so when I say this one was dynamite you know it’s good.
While we were making happy gluttons of ourselves on the food and drink, there was a kick ass brass band playing and then out came the most gorgeous dancers all decked out in feathery, carnival costumes! The crowd couldn’t get enough of the entertainment and the atmosphere was electric.
Sadly we had to return home to relieve the in laws of babysitting duty but we had an absolute blast on our mini break to New Orleans, sorry night out at Bar Gumbo. Can’t wait to come back soon!
